Branden Pierce (Yeti) passed away September 26, 2021 following complications from a long list of health problems. This fund has been put in place to help support and improve the horse program at Camp Killoqua, his home camp since childhood.

Branden grew up going to family camp at Camp Killoqua.   After high school graduation his love for camp led Branden to work summers as a counselor, then Wrangler at Camp Killoqua, YMCA Camp Orkila, Girl Scout Camp River Ranch and Girl Scouts Camp St Albans and later leading trail lines at Sun Mountain Lodge in Winthrop. While he loved all of these camps, Killoqua always held a special place in his heart as “his” camp.

In recent years, Branden volunteered as a wrangler at Killoqua for a week each summer. He loved spending time at camp, working with the horses, and teaching kids to be confident on horseback. He was saddened to see the horse area at Camp Killoqua continue to age, and wished he had the time and energy to help revamp the program.

When Branden passed away it was immediately recognized that his family and friends could help in this endeavor in honor of Branden’s legacy. Donations in his memory will be used to repair fences and feed boxes, create a composting toilet at the barn, and improve horse care so that campers may enjoy horseback riding and horse camp for years to come.

Branden’s dad will be matching donations up to $10,000.
